Customer Critiques

I wanted to buy an tv that did not break the bank, but met my criteria of
40-42", several HDMI input, Pc input, 1080p, 120hz and this fit the bill. I stayed away from plasma mainly because to me the LCD image high quality is much crisper and I stayed away from LED mainly because for the similar sized LCD I can get a larger screen.
Note: The room that this television resides in is 11' by 15' and it sits 8' away from the couch. The size is just correct for the space.
Initial Setup
Setup was extremely painless and I was up and running inside minutes of taking the television out of the box. I had to install the included stand and then set a couple of options and the date once the unit was powered on. The stand base is created out of plastic but is connected to the tv with a metal bracket. That mentioned, when we initial set the tv on the console it wobbled and I was concerned at first, but just after a few days, I already forgot that it initially wobbled, so this was a non-concern. The unit itself is stunning with a black plastic frame with a glossy finish. It really should be noted that the television monitor itself sits quite low with the stand, as soon as installed, there is a 1.five" clearance from whatever the television is sitting on and the bottom of the monitor itself, there is no way to adjust the height.
Remote Manage
The remote manage is normal, nothing fancy. I like the more than-sized volume and channel buttons, very effortless to obtain with out seeking at the remote.
Sound
Please maintain in mind my space size above. The sound from the speakers are really decent. Volume ranges from to 100. When I want to immerse myself in a movie, I set the volume at 45, otherwise I set the volume in between 25 and 30. Just don't expect surround sound from them and you won't be disappointed.
Presets
There are 5 presets in the Image Menu: Common, Cinema, Game, Custom and Vivid. I wasn't a fan with the Standard, Game and Cinema presets. Following playing around with the settings, I settled on a Custom preset I liked.
Picture Excellent
I have my PS3 connected via HDMI and watching 1080p films on this tv is stunning. I watched Pixar's UP on blu-ray and the good quality is surreal, it really is so life-like that it nearly looks 3D, I noticed myself paying attention to tiny details in the movie that I in no way saw just before. Even watching non-1080p video is great, 120hz just tends to make almost everything smooth. I also have my Roku connected by way of HDMI and streaming HD content material is great, the only downside with HD is that when you watch non-HD content, it's quite noticeable, but particularly a lot watchable on this tv.
Games
There is a Game preset and the television states that this is optimized for gaming, even so, I found that I preferred playing games on my Custom preset. I played FF XIII and Uncharted two and the quality is fantastic. My guess is that the "optimized for gaming" is mainly for games FPS games, where each and every millisecond counts... but that's just my guess.
Turning Off 120hz
A frequent complaint I've been reading regarding 120hz units is that it looks like a soap opera. I can confirm this initial impression, but you do get accustomed to it and I really like it now. There is an Advanced picture option Motion Image Pro four that can be set to Off, Weak or Powerful. I like it, so I leave it on Strong.
Viera Tools
The remote control has a devoted Viera Tools button and when pressed, it shows you five choices: Viera Link, Slideshow, Viera Image Viewer, Game Mode and Eco. Here's my thoughts on those solutions...
1. Viera Link: because I didn't personal any compatible merchandise, I don't have any feedback on this tool. I guess to me it's useless.
two. Slideshow: the unit has an SD card slot, so you can load pictuers and run a slideshow. You can set the soundtrack of the slideshow to 1 of 5 music tracks built-in to the television. Other slideshow possibilities you can set are transition effect (11 varieties, which includes collage), photo impact (sepia and gray scale) and display interval. Display interval is the speed of the slideshow, it can be set to Quick, Typical, Slow, Rather slow and Short. Setting this choice to Short would transition the 9 MP images I have on my SD card each eight to 9 seconds, which appears like excellent performance for a television.
3. Viera Image Viewer: this previews the pictures in the SD card, which is fairly fast. You can sort by month, folder or date and then run the slide show based on the sort. Neat.
four. Game Mode: You can either pick Game or Typical. Choosing Game just sets the preset to Game. Unless it does something additional then I'm not aware of it, then it appears useless.
five. Eco: You can set solutions for "No signal for 10 minutes" and "No activity for three hours". Generally, you can set irrespective of whether it stays on or turns off for those alternatives.
Of the 5 tools above, it is the Slideshow that I identified most valuable and would likely use often. It was just so easy to load photographs on the SD card, press the SD Card button on the remote and run the slideshow with the soundtrack. It can also detect landscape versus portrait, so the photos are shown with the correct orientation. My wife and I watched our wedding photos by means of this tool, we without difficulty got lost in terrific memories... :-)
Computer Input
This is not Plug and Play (PnP). When I attached the VGA cable from my netbook, the screen size defaulted to 1024x768. Right after looking through the menu alternatives, I was in a position to uncover the Computer adjustments section that permitted me to change the resolution to one of the following: 1024x768, 1280x768 and 1366x768. I tried it on 1366x768, but I was obtaining some noise at the bottom of the screen, setting it on 1280x768 input resolution worked fine, though I had to adjust the horizontal and vertical position to see the complete screen.
Timer
This was a nice unexpected function. I can set five various times when the Tv either turns on or off. I will use this feature when I am out of town and want to make it appear like someone is house.
Unused Capabilities
I currently mentioned that I do not use the Viera Link tool, as I do not have compatible devices. Other attributes I will not use are the Closed caption and Password setting. The password function would be beneficial for parents. If set, access to channels/shows can be disabled based on content. So if a distinct channel has a plan that is Tv-14 that has Sexual or Violence content material, it can be blocked. Access to input choice can be password protected as nicely. Quite neat.
Overall
I am extremely happy with this buy. The image good quality is superb, in particular 1080p content material. The sound from the built-in speakers is pretty excellent. The slideshow tool that permits the television to show pictures loaded in the built-in SD card slot was a welcome feature and efficiency was surprisingly superior.
Note: For those concerned with heat, it provides off fairly little heat for the size of the unit. When LCD's very first came out, I bought a 26" unit and that sucker was in a position to heat up my entire bedroom.

Getting both sold and owned a multitude of electronic devices that included Sony, Panasonic and other people too various to mention and I freely admit to getting a Sony lover until this acquire. This set replaces a Sony rear projecting Sony flat screen that necessary a blub replacement, the expense of which was more than 30 percent of what the new set expense me. After comparing the image quality and attributes provided by several brands like LG, Sharp and Sony among them, I discovered Panasonic equaled or exceeded what the competitors supplied and till now I have no reason to regret my dissension to decide to buy it.
That becoming mentioned, I am very pleased with Amazon as a seller. Getting been a retailer who considered service of prime significance, I hate Box Retailers method to merchandizing that relies on the Hard Sell by their staff and considers the obligation ceases when the item moves out the doorway and becomes the buyers responsibility must a difficulty surface. Not only did Amazon have my buy delivered zero cost to my living space in great condition, but also guaranteed a replacement need to it be defective with out the hassles one can anticipate when dealing with WalMart, Most beneficial Invest in and other people like them.
Would I advise both the item and the seller? Yes!
