Consumer Evaluations
Very first off, this review is based on the Television, price paid, and characteristics it has, i.e. "value for the cash". That said, this is a excellent Television with a fantastic picture (but I have not carried out a side-by-side comparison with other HDTVs). Games play fine, not confident why others had troubles...maybe they did not do the set-up appropriately. Television does have a "Game" mode which is supposed to support any lag a single may well experience, and under advanced picture mode, you can set the "Smooth Motion Effect" to a number of levels. A single of the main causes I purchased this Television was that Vizio is a single of the few producers that list the power usage of their TVs with no having to do a lot of searching, which was valuable to me. I have owned this Tv for about a week.
I noticed some critiques say this Tv has poor side views. I do not see that at all, in truth i have never owned a LCD Tv that has NO decrease in image high quality when viewed from the side till this 1. The Television is advertized with a 178 degree viewing angle and i would say that is correct...this Tv has a Terrific side viewing ablity.
Side note: Too bad one of the initial evaluations gave this Television a poor rating based on perceived lag which is not accurate. But first critiques generally get the most votes mainly because they are automatically put at the leading, which is a catch twenty-two, simply because that tends to keep them at the top (many people vote most for the very first few reviews they see, thereby keeping them on best).
PROS:
Value
Outstanding value
Easy setup
Light weight (this thing only weighs 67 pounds, but Television is about five" thick)
Image high quality...really good picture (but did not check out 1080P)
Power Star four...makes use of only 138 watts (THIS IS A Significant 1, will save you a lot of cash!) Edit 12/19/2010-see beneath.
CONS (minimal):
Sound is not the top, but nevertheless fairly beneficial
No direct hookup to on line media (i.e. Netflix, and so on.) (but of course I knew this, I just use my DVD player)
Style is beneficial, not excellent (but nevertheless much Greater than the original Vizios)
Minimal connections, 3 HDMI, and only 1 composite AV, really s/b two each
No side connections-(except for 1 HDMI USB) worst con in my opinion
Poor onboard Television controls (without having remote) ...but I guess this is normal nowadays
And this is not element of the general rating, but the Amazon Television knowledge (specs), buy, checkout, truck delivery time (to inside house) and setup was top-notch, I knew when the Television would be delivered (2 hour time frame) at time of buy! No complications I would absolutely purchase this Television once more.
Edit: 12/19/2010
I tried the video games Quake 4, Severe Sam and Super Mario Planet, still can't perceive a lag. I am no game professional, but I have not found any dilemma.
Also hooked up a "Kill A Watt" to check power usage, watts utilised when off = ...Decent! Watts applied when on and working with zoom (full screen) ranged from 160 to 200 with the typical in between (mostly 170 to 180)...Not so Good! This is greater than I hoped but nonetheless superior for such a significant Tv. But I wonder how they got the advertised 138 watts?
Edit: 1/23/2011
Per the webpage: [...] this Tv is rated at 152 watts. The maximum wattage an energy star 4.1 Television of this size can use to qualify is 178 watts.
We bought this from a various retailer for 1399 around Jan 2010. It looks wonderful in hi def with broadcasts like Glee, Marriage Ref, or frequent DVDs.
Counter to the other reviews, The playstation looks great also, Complete 1080P. I haven't noticed unplayable challenges of lag, I game on the internet all the time. There was lag when I went by means of my receiver initially by way of HDMI enough to notice in guitar hero or rock band, so I plug in straight ps3 to Tv now for video considering of that. I cannot help but wonder if that kid knew how to hook up his game console. Hint: if it isn't with an HDMI cable, then you aren't seeing HiDef 1080 correctly. We've had absolutely nothing but jaw dropping fan evaluations from our image, many people usually want to come back and play/watch some far more.
Vizios also have capacity to turn off speakers and have a lot more adjustments to audio, this is wonderful, as I seldom use the TVs speakers. Had a buddy tell me his new Sony wouldn't let him do that.
Cons: this Tv can see by means of green screens... generating fake shots appear even extra fake. I've tried to adjust it myself, but came back to default settings which looked greater than mine. It brightens films, losing that film effect, making films appear alot more like soap operas or camcorder shots. I suspect 'backlight' to be the result in of this, but once more, I was in no way pleased with my adjustments to make it far better. one other thing, when the screen is definitely vivid, and I can see a fault in the 'plastic film' close to element of the screen, a fold. I'd have to point it out to you it is so minor and you wouldn't see it 99 percent of the time, but it was a fault in my particular tv.
My panasonic Viera picture is slightly much better much less bright, but I would make this acquire again more than more than.(specifically at the new cost!)
